The Partridge
"...And a partridge in a pear tree." This part of the 12 Days of Christmas song has a very deep meaning. The partridge in a pear tree represents Jesus. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge which pretends to be injury to decoy predators from her helpless young. It is in memory of the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem.
